Hiring Information

The Canberra Croquet Club hires out equipment and the lawns for social events, work functions and similar. With hirings you play a slightly simplified version of Golf Croquet.

Golf croquet can be played as single or doubles and takes about 20-30 minutes per game. Two games can be played at the same time on a lawn; therefore, eight players can be on a lawn at any one time.

Golf Croquet is simple enough to teach the basics to beginners in only about 10 minutes. When played as doubles we find that it generates just the right amount of competitiveness, and that beginners very quickly work out their tactics.

Cost

To hire the lawns there is a minimum charge of $190. This will cover one lawn for two hours, or two lawns for one hour. Further time is available at $95 per lawn per hour. The hiring charge includes equipment and having one or more instructors set up the lawn, explain how to play and help you with your games. Payment should be by cash on the day; the club doesn't have a credit card facility.

Players should wear flat soled shoes or sandshoes on the lawns to help preserve the playing surface.

Availability & Booking Ahead

Our lawns are available on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 12:30pm. They are available on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 3:30pm. They are not available on Sundays.

To allow time for the club to reply to you and to organise a hiring, it is preferable to give at least two weeks notice. Please note that we are not able to accommodate groups of more than about 24 players.

End of year / Christmas Hirings
Please note that each year we are not able to take bookings from mid-November to early January because of annual lawn maintenance.
