Congratulations to CCC member Jamie Gumbrell, who has just been given a
place in the World U21 Championship in Feb 2017, in Melb. Jamie came
fourth in the Aust Under 21 Champ in Melb last weekend. While there were
only 5 starters, play was very high standard, and 4 of the players had their
handicaps adjusted in - including Jamie who was moved from a GC 7 to GC 5.
The Aust U21 Championship was narrowly won 10-9 by Jack Williams, in the
play-off against Charlie Sharpe. All five players will play in the World
U21 Champ, along with Edward Wilson from Adelaide

Congratulations to Craig Oxley, the new Club Handicap Golf Croquet Champion, 7-6, 5-7, 7-6, after a very close fought Final against Ian Nicol (pictured, running H3 from the border at a considerable angle). Both players played good fluent croquet, but Craig excelled at placement and precise jawsing, and used his 3 extra turns each game to advantage. Both players went for hoops from pretty wide angles, rather than take the easier option of clearing nearby opposition balls, and there were some very good long hoops under pressure. The Playing Committee has therefore moved the GC handicaps for both players in, in recognition of their consistent performance. Great Final!
