Hiring Information

The Canberra Croquet Club welcomes groups to use the sport of croquet to add a fun, innovative element to your function whether it be a corporate team-building session, office Christmas Party, celebration or special event.

Depending on the size of your group, at least two experienced members from our club will lead you through the game of croquet. We will show you how to swing a mallet, hit a ball and run a hoop. After a short introduction and practice you will be able to play a game with your colleagues and friends.

Cost

The cost includes the use of the lawn(s), mallets, balls, hoops and assistance from club members.

Minimum charge is $240.

Your party may be larger but a maximum of 24 players are allowed on the lawns at any one time.

Catering

The Club does not provide catering. You are encouraged to arrange your own food and beverages or hire a caterer. Our clubhouse is accessible and includes a kitchen – fridge, microwave but no oven. Chairs and tables are supplied to sit outside under the trees so that refreshments can be taken while you are playing. Please NO glassware is to be taken onto the lawns.

Use of the Lawns

The Club recommends that guests wear flat-soled enclosed footwear. Croquet balls are solid and are unforgiving if they come in contact with feet or toes. To protect the lawn high heeled shoes are NOT allowed.

Please wear a hat and liberally applied sunscreen. It is much easier to play if loose comfortable clothes are worn – trousers, leggings, shorts and jeans are preferable to long skirts.

Availability

Monday, from 3pm, Tuesday from 3.30pm, Wednesday between 1300-1700, Thursday from 4pm, Friday from 1pm and Saturday from 3pm. Sunday – please forward your request on the Hiring Enquiry Form.

Safety

Children under the age of 12 are NOT allowed on the croquet lawns, or in the Clubhouse at any time other than to use the toilets. A non-participating adult must supervise the children.

Parking

The Club has a limited car park in Kaye Place off Flynn Drive. Three-hour spaces are sometimes available at the back of the Hyatt. Paid parking is available on the Albert Hall-side of the Hyatt Hotel.
