Canberra successfully defended the "Broken Mallet" trophy at the Aust Gateball Champs at EDSACC in Oct 2017. This trophy commemorates the kindness shown by McIlwraith CC to Canberra gate-ballers after several of their mallets broke just before a tournament in Brisbane. The Broken Mallet is up for contention whenever these Clubs now meet in competition.
